It’s the end of summer and Dorsetville folks are busier than bees. Days are filled from dawn to sunset with last-minute chores, while the women struggle to find time to prepare their special dishes in hopes of winning a coveted blue ribbon at the annual County Fair. As opening day of the fair draws near, folks have plenty to occupy their minds as well. Much to the chagrin of Father James, he has been chosen to help judge the Apple Pie Contest; Matthew Metcalf worries about how to keep his girlfriend and pay for college at the same time; the Petersons welcome a long-awaited and newly adopted baby; and Hudson, Marion Holmes’s butler, hopes to give his beloved employer a new reason to live by researching the parentage of a young boy who has just arrived in town along with the fair. The boy is a carbon copy of Marion’s deceased son, William. Could he be the product of an old love afair between William and a girl whose uncle once owned a carnival? Before this mystery can be solved, however, the sheriff and the FBI must figure out that the owner of the fair is planning to risk the lives of the fairgoers in order to hide a major drug deal he is taking part in—before it’s too late.

THE COUNTY FAIR is a fitting climax to the Dorsetville series, where good friends are never farther than a handshake and God’s intervention is as close as a prayer.

Dorsetville Series

The author of the popular Dorsetville series takes us on a new journey filled with mystery, exorcisms and the power of friendships. In the small New England town of Bend Oaks something evil has been unleashed within the walls of St. Francis Xavier's rectory. Can a group of rug hookers and a reluctant exorcist joint friendship save one of their own from an ancient demonic curse?

Since the death of the elderly pastor at St. Francis Xavier's Catholic Church, something has caused three replacements to flee in the middle of the night. Even though rumors abound throughout the town about the rectory being haunted, nothing can deter a group of rug hookers from meeting there, even though one of them harbors a secret gift and can see into the world of demonic forces that are quickly gathering.

The archbishop is also aware of something unexplainable taking place at the rectory and elicits the help of Father Rich Melos, a scholar from Rome who is visiting on a sabbatical. Father Rich is quickly drawn into this world of paranormal and must finally come to grips with a call to accept the role of exorcist.

From the unearthing of an ancient Biblical curse, to an exorcism in Rome, to the bowels of decaying insane asylum, Valentine brings readers on a wild ride set against the familiar backdrop of a quaint, small-town New England. This heartfelt tale is both an exciting suspense story and a deeply moving story of the power of faith.

Dorsetville Series

Readers across the country have discovered the delightful stories that center on the fictional town of Dorsetville, a place filled with caring friends, unforgettable characters and stories of hope.

In this installment, the rumor mill is working overtime. Will Harry retire and close down the Country Kettle? If so, where will Father James go to get a break from his housekeeper, Mrs. Norris? What has caused the town's curmudgeon, George Benson's, sudden streak of bad luck? And how long will St. Anthony's statue have to remain inside the church closet while repairs are being made to his knave? He's the parishioner's favorite patron saint, the saint of miracles, and well... you can't light candles in front of an empty space!

Soon, however, these simple concerns are overshadowed by the horrible news that the Gallagher twins have fallen through the ice. One now teeters between life and death. But with Doc. Hammon's own health problems taking precedent, who will take care of this child while he undergoes life-saving surgery?

Once again, Katherine Valentine takes us into this small New England town where everyone is family and miracles abound.

The small New England town of Dorsetville is filled with the type of eccentric characters reminiscent of those who once endeared a nation to the television show, Mayberry.

In this third installment of this popular series, the town is a flutter. Back at St. Cecilia's rectory, the housekeeper Mrs. Norris, has quit in a huff. To Father James's horror, the rectory quickly takes on the look of a college dorm. Father Dennis could lend a hand but since his cooking show, The Fat Friar, has started to gain popularity, he's more concerned about fan mail than his priestly duties. Nellie Anderson and Harry Clifford are about to tie the knot-that is if someone can find the missing wedding invitations. Bungling, Deputy Hill has been left in charge when the sheriff comes down with the flu, but can the town survive until he returns? Meanwhile, Father James tries to help an ex-convict learn to cope on the outside. Valerie Kilbourne, a single mother tries to find the money for a very expensive operation to prevent her twin daughter's blindness. And Lori Peterson, who has had her share of tragedies, will be asked to face another; yet through the harrowing ordeal re-avow that God's love is ever present.

Katherine Valentine's amazing insights into human nature and extraordinary sense of humor keep readers coming back, ever anxious to hear about the latest happenings among the folks who call Dorsetville home.

In A Gathering of Angels new beginnings are in the air. The redoubtable Mother Superior and her nuns bustle to open a renovated mansion as a retirement home. Harry at the Country Kettle—absorbed in a budding romance with the lonely town spinster—welcomes a take-charge waitress from New York (though some customers find her less homey than his famous coffee and mismatched plates). Father James Flaherty faces new challenges—along with the ones he's all too familiar with—from lagging repair work at St. Cecilia's to parishioners who urge him to combat his growing waistline and climbing cholesterol with, of all things, kickboxing.

But when a young girl is in danger and out-of-town mobsters menace Barry Hornibrook's half-built hotel, it's time for all Dorsetvillians to pull together. When they do, there's no telling what miracles are in store.

It's a bitter cold Ash Wednesday in Dorsetville, New England, where the last wool mill shut down five years ago and only Yankee grit gets its citizens out of bed for another day of facing challenges with wry humor. Poor in worldly goods but rich in faith and compassion, they have been bound together for generations by the gaudy monolith of St. Cecilia's church, long a white elephant to the Catholic archdiocese and now slated to close-after the last mass on Easter Sunday.

Father James Flaherty despairs of turning the parish finances around, or even of fixing the cantankerous furnace. What will become of his flock? And of their beloved eighty-two-year-old Father Keene, increasingly eccentric but beatific, who had planned to live out his days at St. Cecilia's? Diners at the Country Kettle-where plates have never matched but you get the best cup of coffee in the valley-worry, too. Among them is waitress Lori Peterson, who needs her own miracle-a bone-marrow match for her husband, Bob. And Matthew Metcalf, a rash young genius in trouble at Dorsetville High for hacking into its computer and inadvertently exposing some embarrassing secrets.

Delightful and moving, with a cast of endearing and quirky characters, A Miracle for St. Cecilia's will warm hearts and enchant readers everywhere.
