I began my writing career a little late in life. I was past fifty when Penguin Publishers offered me my first contract with a whopping six figure advance. Unlike most authors, I did not begin my career to see my books in print. It was begun in answer to a prayer. I asked the Lord for retirement funds for my husband and He gave me the idea for a book.
Since then, I have written nine books. Seven are in print. The others are waiting for a home. After much prayer, I left my agent of eight years in December, 2009. I felt that I needed to reassess my writing and refocus on what a dear priest friend labeled my ‘original calling’. In my spirit, I knew that he was right. I had gotten off track. My called had been to showcase God’s great love and grace during times of trials but somehow I had allowed it to morphed into writing proposals aimed at garnering the widest audience share.
While I wait for the Lord to provide a new agent, I've begun a new series and even ventured into writing my first piece of non-fiction. Centered on a personal ministry that revolves around the Rosary, it was just picked up by a Catholic house. I don't have a release date as of this writing.
This had turned into an exciting new venture and one that I’ve eagerly embraced. It answers a long held desire to share with others what I’ve learned over a forty year spiritual journey with special emphasis on the Holy Spirit. I don’t believe I could have endured the myriad trials that have littered my path without His presence, empowering both my temporal and spiritual needs. He is my best friend and an ‘ever present help in trouble'; the fuel that drives my passion to share my faith with the world. It deeply saddens me how few Catholics court a personal relationship with this beautiful third person of the Trinity. Presently, I’m working on a book to accompany a three-part program on the Holy Spirit that has been warmly embraced by audiences.
